Google Chrome Integrates On-Device AI to Combat Tech Support Scams

FYI Chrome users: Google is rolling out a cool new update that uses on-device AI to sniff out those annoying tech support scams — you know, the ones that try to scare you with fake virus alerts or freeze your screen.

This AI, called Gemini Nano, runs directly on your device (so your data stays private) and flags anything suspicious. If it spots something shady, it pings Google Safe Browsing to double-check — and if it’s legit sketchy, you’ll get a clear warning before things go sideways.

This smarter protection will roll out with Chrome version 126 as part of its Enhanced Protection setting. It’s faster, more private, and definitely a step up in keeping users safe online.
